Listen and dance to the band

We are delighted to welcome the Cambridge University Ceilidh band to the Ickleton fete. They have previously played for a fundraising evening in Ickleton where everyone had a great time.

The band will be playing in the grand marquee at the fete with plenty of room for dancing. This is a free event so anyone can turn up and join in or just chill out and watch others doing the jigging around.

The band will be there for the whole fete but will be having regular breaks to allow people to compete in the Extreme Domestic Activities competitions and get round to look at the stalls and activities on the rec and in the hall.

Come along and join us for some summer dancing fun.

Extreme Domestic Activities at Ickleton fete

Extreme domestic activities have been reintroduced to the Ickleton fete line up by popular demand. But this year there is a twist, so read on to find out more.

We will be holding a total of 4 different activities:

  • Duvet wrestling: how quickly can you strip and recover a duvet?
  • Peg wrangling: how many clothes peg can you remove from the line without dropping them
  • Creative napkin folding: we’re looking for the most gloriously fantastic that you can make from a linen square:
  • Sock sorting: how many socks can you correctly pair in 1 minute?

You can enter just one activity or you take part in all 4 to compete for the title of Ickleton Extreme Domestic Activities Quad-athlete 2017. Activities will be scheduled throughout the day so you’ll need to check the programme notice boards to make sure you don’t miss anything.

To help you practice some creative napkin folding checking out the you tube video below.

This is a great free fun challenge suitable for all ages but be warned its not for the fainted hearted.

Exciting first prize for raffle….

We are pleased to announce that Wellcome Trust have this year donated a Raspberry Pi Starter Kit. This is a great prize for budding developers or those just interested in learning computer programming. To find out more about this great prize visit

Can you balance a coin on a floating lemon?

Why not come to this year’s fete and try for yourself.

Yes – balancing a coin on a lemon is one of the new challenges we have in store for 2016. You can also try our chocolate bar throw activity or guessing the number of Lego bricks in a jar.

Plenty of silliness and all the usual fun, so do come and enjoy !

See you on the 11th.
