Another successful Ickleton Village Fete

The bunting is down, the barbeque is packed away and the energy levels are depleted for another year! But what a FABULOUS day we had. The sun shone throughout the day and into the early evening. For me, the highlights of the day were:

Chris the postie – who was relentlessly bombarded with water, eggs and even cake throughout the event – yet tirelessly demonstrated first aid and CPR to our visitors!
The belly dancers – put on a fantsatic display and proved to be a real hit, especially with the men?
The extreme domestic activities – lots of fun – I’ve never seen such fast knitting, and the men did a great job with the cake decorating….
The honey bees – the wonderful observation hive enabled us all to get a closer look at what goes on behind closed doors with those industrious little insects..
The crafts – we had some lovely handmade crafts this year which was just wonderful to share.

…..and of course – the PIMMS!

Hope to post some photos soon, but now we turn our attention to next year. If you would like to get involved with the organising of the Ickleton Village Fete or if you have an idea you’d like to put to us, please get in touch: tori_mckillen@hotmail.com

Its upon us…

Fete day is nearly upon us and it looks like the weather might be kind to us. Between now and 2pm tomorrow we’ll be frantically putting the finishing touches to the plans, erecting the marquess, polishing the tea urns, buffing the barbeque and getting ready to give you another good afternoon out. Here’s just a sample of what’s in store for you this year….

Belly dancers at Ickleton Village Fete 2011

We’re pleased to have a belly dancing demo as part of this year’s Ickleton Village Fete. Belly dancing classes have been going on in Ickleton Village Hall for a number of years now so come along to see what’s in store. The belly dancers will be swinging their hips for us at 3pm on the rec. Enjoy!

Announcing 2011 date

Welcome back in 2011. The date is now set for SATURDAY 02 JULY – so make sure it’s in your diary. Last year was such a great success we are not sure we can really top it, but we’ll try!

Planning and preparations have commenced so watch this space…

If you are local to Ickleton and would like to get involved there are many ways in which you can take part, and we need volunteers to:

  • run a stall or activity
  • help on the day – with set up, stalls, stewarding etc
  • sell reffle tickets in advance

If you would like to get involved please contact tori_mckillen@hotmail.com

A huge success!!

What a fabulous day we had on Saturday. Great weather, good entertainment and a fantastic atmosphere. From what I can gather a good time was had by all. There’s so much we’re still catching up on that our feet haven’t touched the ground – so apologies for the delay in blogging. We are totalling up the final monies and it looks good so far, we’re also getting the photos downloaded so watch this space for an update in the next few weeks. Thanks again to all who helped and supported us……

There were some fabulous craft stalls which, I think, took people unawares – so if you didn’t get a chance or have the cash on hand to buy anything we will be updating the arts & crafts page so you can get in contact with the artists if anything took your eye.

DON’T GIVE UP ON US YET – ‘follow this blog’ as it will be updated soon…..
